Building Community Through Inclusion: Join Us for Meet My Friends at the Park 2026
At Lending Hand Home Care Corp., we understand that caring for a child or loved one with complex medical needs can sometimes feel isolating. Between appointments, therapies, daily routines, and caregiving responsibilities, families often have little opportunity to connect with others who truly understand their experiences.
That is why we are so excited to host our annual Meet My Friends at the Park 2026, a free, inclusive community event designed specifically for medically complex children, adults, their families, caregivers, and support teams.
This year, we are also incredibly grateful for the support of our event sponsor, Wellwise Home Health and Wellness, whose commitment to accessibility, wellness, and community support helps make events like this possible.
We are also excited to welcome Kids Kicking Cancer Canada – Heroes Circle, who will be joining us to provide interactive demonstrations and inclusive experiences for attendees of all abilities. Their team will help create engaging, accessible opportunities that encourage confidence, empowerment, and connection for children and families attending the event.

Meet My Friends at the Park is more than just a day at the park; it is an opportunity to create friendships, share experiences, and celebrate inclusion.
Families can look forward to:
- Accessible outdoor fun
- Water play activities
- Face painting
- Games and social activities
- Interactive demonstrations with Kids Kicking Cancer Canada – Heroes Circle
- Inclusive and accessible experiences for children and adults of all abilities
- Opportunities for children to build meaningful friendships with peers who share similar experiences
- Opportunities to connect with other families and caregivers
- Small gifts for attendees
- A supportive, judgment-free environment where everyone is welcome
Our goal is to ensure that every individual attending feels included, supported, and valued.
For many medically complex children and adults, opportunities to socialize with peers who share similar experiences can be limited. Events like Meet My Friends at the Park create a safe and inclusive space where children can build meaningful connections, develop confidence, and form lasting friendships with other children who understand their journeys. Creating these opportunities for connection helps foster a sense of belonging, inclusion, and community for both children and their families.
Why Community Matters in Complex Care
For families navigating complex medical needs, community support can make a tremendous difference. Caregiving often involves emotional, physical, and mental challenges that can be difficult to explain to those outside of the experience. Having a network of people who understand those realities can help reduce feelings of isolation and burnout.
Building a strong support system can:
- Improve emotional well-being for caregivers and families
- Help families share resources, strategies, and experiences
- Encourage social inclusion for medically complex children and adults
- Create opportunities for friendship and peer support
- Provide reassurance that families are not navigating these challenges alone
Events like Meet My Friends at the Park help foster those important connections in a safe and welcoming environment.
Supporting Both Patients and Caregivers
While much attention is often focused on the individual receiving care, caregivers also need support and community. Parents, siblings, nurses, personal support workers, and other caregivers benefit greatly from spaces where they can connect openly with others who understand their day-to-day experiences.
When caregivers feel supported, the entire care environment benefits. Community events provide opportunities to:
- Build confidence and emotional resilience
- Learn from shared lived experiences
- Reduce caregiver stress and isolation
- Strengthen family support networks
- Create lasting friendships and professional connections
Sometimes, simply meeting another family who understands your journey can have an incredible impact.
How to RSVP
Attendance is free, but we encourage families and attendees to RSVP in advance so we can plan appropriately for activities and gifts.
